Otterbein, IN – Two people were arrested Friday night in Otterbein after one suspect allegedly barricaded himself inside a home during a probation check, according to the Benton County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said the incident happened around 8:40 p.m. at a residence on South Gregory Lane. Deputies conducting a probation check on Alyssa D. Munsey, 33, reportedly found Ryan T. Sanders, 36, inside the home. Sanders was wanted on multiple felony warrants. When deputies attempted to remove him, Sanders allegedly barricaded himself in a bedroom.
According to Sheriff John Cox, deputies called for assistance from the Indiana State Police after repeated attempts to have Sanders surrender failed. Troopers later discovered Sanders had removed carpet and wooden flooring in what appeared to be an attempt to conceal himself or escape. During the search, deputies allegedly found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia inside the home.
Munsey was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony, and possession of paraphernalia, a misdemeanor. Sanders was arrested on several outstanding warrants, including failure to appear for domestic battery, along with new charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia, and resisting law enforcement.
Munsey was booked into the Benton County Jail with bond set at $1,000. Sanders was jailed without bond. Sheriff Cox said the Otterbein Town Marshal’s Office also assisted in the arrests.
Both individuals remain incarcerated and are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
