Logansport, IN – Cass County residents are being targeted by scammers posing as sheriff’s deputies, falsely claiming individuals have outstanding federal warrants, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities warn that the scammers are using sophisticated tactics to pressure victims into making payments via gift cards or cash in an attempt to “resolve” a fake legal issue.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies will never contact individuals by phone to demand money or inform them of arrest warrants. Residents receiving such calls should assume they are fraudulent and avoid sharing any personal or financial information.
For verification or concerns, residents are encouraged to contact the Cass County Sheriff’s Office directly at (574) 753-7800 or the non-emergency line at (574) 722-6060.
Authorities urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious calls immediately.
