Fort Wayne, IN – Soaking rains are set to dampen spring plans across northeastern Indiana as a Flood Watch remains in effect for Fort Wayne through 8 a.m. Sunday. With persistent rainfall, gusty winds and saturated ground, local roads—including I-69 and US-30 corridors—could become hazardous by Friday evening.
According to the National Weather Service, showers will begin late Thursday and increase in intensity by Friday afternoon. Rain will continue through Saturday night, with thunderstorms possible Friday evening after 8 p.m.. Forecasters expect rainfall totals to range between a quarter inch and half an inch per period, pushing localized waterways toward flood stage.
Wind gusts may reach 30 mph, further complicating travel across Allen County and nearby rural routes. Residents are urged to avoid low-lying roadways and monitor emergency alerts. Local officials remind drivers to “turn around, don’t drown” when encountering flooded roads.
Temperatures will remain spring-like, peaking in the mid-50s to upper 60s through Saturday, before dipping into the 30s and 40s at night. A dry window is expected Monday, bringing mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid-40s—cooler than seasonal averages.
Looking ahead, Tuesday and Wednesday bring slight chances for scattered showers, with gradually warming temperatures and sunshine returning midweek.
