Benton County, IN – The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has announced upcoming flagging operations that will impact State Road 71 in Benton County, including the communities of Dunnington and Freeland Park.
Beginning Wednesday, crews will initiate lane closures under a flagging operation on S.R. 71 between S.R. 18 and S.R. 352. This will allow crews to patch and pave the area. According to INDOT, the flagging will occur between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. from Monday to Saturday. During non-flagging hours, the Finnigan Ditch crossing will remain closed.
Work is anticipated to last until late August, pending weather conditions and other unforeseen circumstances. INDOT urges drivers to exercise caution while traveling through the area, reminding them to buckle up, put their phones down, and keep worker safety top-of-mind.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to maintain and improve the state’s road infrastructure. Commuters are advised to plan alternate routes and allow for extra travel time to avoid delays.
