Clark County, IN – A 42-year-old Ohio man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after allegedly causing a crash and leading Indiana State Police on a pursuit along Interstate 65 in Clark County.
According to state police in Sellersburg, the incident began around 3:15 p.m. near the 22-mile marker when a red Dodge Dakota, reportedly without a license plate, cut in front of a semi and abruptly slowed, causing a rear-end crash. The driver then fled, weaving through traffic and using the interstate shoulder to pass vehicles.
Master Trooper Rob Caudill spotted the pickup near the 16.5-mile marker and attempted a traffic stop. The driver, identified as Nathaniel Richard Long of Lima, Ohio, appeared to slow but then accelerated, prompting a short pursuit. Long exited I-65 at Exit 16, turned onto Memphis Blue Lick Road, and entered the drive-thru lane of an Arby’s at a Pilot truck stop. There, Trooper Caudill conducted a felony stop and took Long into custody.
Long was booked into the Clark County Jail on felony charges of OWI with a prior and resisting law enforcement, along with misdemeanor charges of OWI endangerment, reckless driving, and leaving the scene of an accident.
