Logansport, IN – Drivers in Cass and Carroll counties should expect delays and detours as the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announced ongoing resurfacing projects along State Road 29.

According to INDOT, State Road 29 is currently closed between State Road 25/U.S. 35/U.S. 24 and the north junction of State Road 218 through Friday, September 5. The closure allows crews to complete resurfacing work on the northern section of the roadway.

Beginning Tuesday, September 2, additional resurfacing will begin on the southern portion of the project area, between County Road 500 North and the south junction of State Road 218. Lane closures will last for roughly two weeks, with access maintained for local traffic only.

Starting in mid-September, State Road 29 will be completely closed between the north junction of State Road 218 and County Road 500 North. INDOT said this phase will include full-depth reclamation, in which the existing pavement and underlying materials are pulverized and stabilized before receiving a new surface layer. The work will fully close the roadway to through traffic in that section.

Construction is expected to continue into late November, though INDOT emphasized that local access will remain available throughout the project. The official detour route will follow State Road 25 and State Road 218.

Motorists are encouraged to allow extra travel time, use alternate routes, and remain alert for construction crews while the work is ongoing.
