Indianapolis, IN – Indiana residents should brace for an intense heatwave beginning Monday, with temperatures escalating throughout the week. The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Watch effective Tuesday, warning that heat index values could reach a dangerous 105 to 110 degrees Fahrenheit in parts of the state.

According to weather forecasts, Monday will see temperatures ranging from the mid-90s to over 100°F in some areas. However, Tuesday is expected to bring even more extreme conditions. The heat index will exceed 100°F statewide, with some regions, like Lafayette and Terre Haute, likely experiencing temperatures around 110°F.

This excessive heat poses a serious risk, especially for vulnerable groups like the elderly, children, and those with health conditions. Officials are urging residents to take precautions such as staying hydrated, avoiding outdoor activities during peak heat, and checking on neighbors.

The heatwave is expected to persist through Wednesday, with temperatures remaining high across Indiana. Cooler weather may arrive by Thursday, but until then, residents should remain vigilant and prepared. Plan ahead and stay safe as this extreme heat could lead to serious health issues or even fatalities.
