Carmel, IN – With CarmelFest in full swing, local police are urging festival-goers to pay close attention to parking regulations—or risk ending the day at the impound lot.

According to a reminder issued Tuesday by the Carmel Police Department on social media, illegally parked vehicles—especially those in emergency lanes or areas clearly marked “No Parking”—will be subject to towing. The department emphasized that these zones are critical for emergency access and public safety throughout the popular Independence Day celebration.

“We get it. That spot right by the action is calling your name,” the department stated, noting that improperly parked vehicles not only violate city code but also obstruct essential routes for first responders.

In a humorous yet firm tone, the department warned, “Park there anyway, and your car might end up with a one-way ticket to the impound lot. (Not the kind of festival memory you want.)”

Festival attendees are urged to follow posted signs, steer clear of emergency access points, and avoid the “heartbreak of a towed car.”

CarmelFest, which features parades, live music, fireworks and community vendors, attracts thousands of visitors to downtown Carmel every year. With the increase in pedestrian traffic and road closures, officials say following traffic and parking directives is more important than ever.

Drivers can check the City of Carmel’s official website or social media pages for detailed parking maps and real-time updates during the event.
