Jeffersonville, IN — A high-speed police pursuit ended in a violent crash late Monday night in Jeffersonville, sending six people, including children, to area hospitals.

Shortly after 11 p.m., an Indiana State Police trooper from the Sellersburg Post attempted to stop a blue 2010 Infiniti G37 for speeding and driving without headlights near 8th Street and Sharon Drive. The driver fled, leading officers through downtown Jeffersonville at high speeds before turning onto eastbound 10th Street.

According to Indiana State Police, the driver evaded Stop-Stick tire deflation devices and collided with two passenger vehicles at 10th and Spring Streets. The impact pushed one of the cars into a tow truck in the right-turn lane. The Infiniti continued traveling in the wrong direction on the northbound I-65 off-ramp before stopping.

Two adults and two juveniles in the first car were injured. The adults were taken to UofL Hospital in Louisville with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, while the children were taken to Norton Children’s Hospital with less severe injuries. A man in the second car and the 18-year-old fleeing driver, identified as Franky Vasquez of Louisville, were also hospitalized.

Police say suspected drugs and a firearm were found at the scene. Charges are pending further investigation.
