Frankfort, IN – A man accused in last month’s officer-involved shooting with the Kirklin Deputy Town Marshals in Clinton County was taken into custody Wednesday after being released from an Indianapolis hospital, according to Indiana State Police.

According to investigators, an arrest warrant had been issued out of Clinton County. When the suspect—identified as Jehrome Bowens, 29, of Indianapolis—was discharged on the evening of December 4, 2025, troopers immediately detained him on the active warrant and transported him to the Clinton County Jail.

Police say Bowens is charged with three counts of Level 1 felony attempted murder, three counts of Level 5 felony battery with a deadly weapon, Level 5 felony theft, and Level 5 felony unlawful carrying of a handgun. All suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

The charges stem from a November 18, 2025, traffic stop on State Road 29 near County Road 400 North. During the stop, officers ordered all occupants out of the vehicle. Investigators say a passenger allegedly fired a handgun toward responding officers, striking two Kirklin Town Marshals. Officers returned fire, hitting the suspect at least once.

Police say Bowens then fled on foot into a nearby field before he was located and given medical aid. A handgun was recovered at the scene. One officer was hospitalized in stable condition; another was struck but protected by a bullet-resistant vest. A child and multiple adults were also in the vehicle—one adult was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Indiana State Police detectives continue the investigation, which will later be reviewed by the Clinton County Prosecutor’s Office.
