Upon arrival, police observed numerous vehicles and individuals fleeing the area. Officers later learned that two individuals—an adult male and a juvenile female—had sustained gunshot wounds and transported themselves to Memorial Hospital. Both were treated for injuries that were described as non-life-threatening.

Authorities noted that a significant number of people were in the park at the time of the shooting. City officials also reminded residents that public parks in South Bend are open daily from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. and that being on park grounds outside of those hours is considered trespassing.

The investigation remains active.
