Boone County, Ind. – Drivers traveling on Interstate 65 in Boone County should prepare for overnight lane closures starting today as part of an ongoing intersection improvement project.
According to the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT), crews will begin closing up to two lanes at a time between State Road 47 and State Road 32. Work will take place nightly from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. beginning Tuesday and is expected to continue until early September, weather permitting.
The closures are tied to INDOT’s 52 at 65 Intersection Improvement Project, which aims to enhance traffic flow and safety in the area. Officials warn that motorists should anticipate reduced speeds and possible delays while work is underway.
INDOT encourages drivers to use caution when traveling through construction zones and to allow extra time for commutes. Lane closures are scheduled to reopen each morning before peak travel hours.
Motorists can stay informed about closures and traffic updates by visiting 511in.org or by following INDOT West Central on social media. Updates are also available through the agency’s mobile app on iTunes and Google Play.
This work is part of INDOT’s broader effort to maintain and upgrade Indiana’s more than 29,000 highway lane miles and 5,700 bridges. Officials remind drivers to follow the Buckle Up Phone Down safety campaign, emphasizing seat belt use and avoiding distractions behind the wheel.
