Indiana’s air feels sharp and dry across Fort Wayne this morning, with temperatures hovering near 33 degrees and a light northwest breeze cutting through jackets. Roads are dry for now, but the cold snap is keeping pavement temperatures low.

According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, mostly sunny skies will push highs to around 36 degrees this afternoon. West winds between 10 and 15 mph may gust up to 25 mph, adding an extra bite during the midday drive.

Skies turn partly cloudy tonight as lows drop to 21 degrees. Any leftover moisture on bridges along I-69 or I-469 could refreeze by early Thursday. This is the time of year when flash freezing catches drivers off guard. Slow down on elevated ramps before sunrise.

Thursday brings sunshine and a high near 40. The real warm-up arrives Friday, when temperatures jump to 55 degrees under mostly sunny skies. Snow piles will shrink fast, and sidewalks should clear.

The pattern shifts again this weekend. Saturday climbs to 46 with a slight chance of rain and snow after 1 p.m. Saturday night carries a 40 percent chance of snow, mainly before 1 a.m., with lows near 25. Light accumulations are possible into early Sunday. Sunday stays colder with highs near 35 and another slight snow chance.

Early next week remains chilly with periodic snow chances before longer-range signals point toward a moderating trend into early March.
