Northern Indiana – A wintry mix of snow and sleet is expected this morning across far northeast Indiana, far northwest Ohio, and far south-central Michigan, potentially creating slushy travel hazards through midday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Northern Indiana.
According to forecasters, cold air lingering over the region is allowing incoming precipitation to fall as a mix of snow and sleet within the highlighted zone stretching from Coldwater and Angola toward Bowling Green and far northwest Ohio. Visibility may drop at times, and slushy accumulations up to one-half inch are possible in localized areas.
The wintry mix is expected to linger through late morning before gradually transitioning to rain this afternoon. Total rainfall today should stay under a quarter inch, with light showers persisting at times across northern Indiana and adjacent areas.
Temperatures today will range from the upper 30s to mid-40s. Skies remain cloudy, and roads may become briefly slick in regions where the wintry mix is most persistent.
Conditions improve tonight with dry weather returning, although clouds will remain in place. Overnight lows will drop into the upper 20s to upper 30s.
Warmer temperatures arrive Wednesday and Thursday, with highs climbing into the 40s Wednesday and into the 50s on Thursday. A new round of showers is expected Thursday afternoon into Friday as another system moves into the region.
NWS encourages residents traveling this morning to remain alert for changing road conditions, particularly in the areas outlined in the agency’s early-morning advisory.
