Dayton, Ohio – Patchy dense fog is causing hazardous travel conditions across eastern Indiana and western Ohio this morning, with visibility plunging to less than a quarter mile in spots along major routes.

According to the National Weather Service offices in Wilmington, Northern Indiana, and Cleveland, patchy fog—locally dense—will linger through at least 8 a.m. Saturday. Areas most affected include Dayton, Richmond, Cincinnati, Fort Wayne, Lima, and Marion. The thickest fog is reported east of Interstate 69, covering portions of I-70, I-75, and local roads. Motorists could see visibility drop rapidly, especially near rivers and low-lying areas.

Drivers are urged to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and stay alert for sudden changes in visibility. Emergency managers advise leaving extra time for commutes, avoiding cruise control, and keeping a safe distance between vehicles. Schools and morning events may face delays or slowdowns—check local sources for updates.

This round of summer fog is typical after humid, calm nights and follows a similar pattern to previous July events. Conditions should steadily improve after sunrise as temperatures climb and fog dissipates.

Fog advisories remain in effect until at least 8 a.m. Saturday. Stay tuned for updates and monitor road conditions before heading out.
