Fort Wayne, IN – A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for parts of Indiana and Ohio until 7 PM EDT Sunday. The National Weather Service Northern Indiana announced that the watch covers major cities, including Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, Muncie, Dayton, and Columbus.
According to the National Weather Service, residents should prepare for isolated hail up to the size of ping pong balls and scattered wind gusts reaching up to 70 mph. Frequent lightning is also expected, posing additional risks.
Authorities urge residents to stay indoors, secure loose outdoor items, and monitor weather updates. The storm watch affects approximately 7.88 million people, 2,368 schools, and 157 hospitals, underscoring the importance of taking safety measures seriously.
