Cincinnati, Ohio – A final round of thunderstorms is expected to move through the Ohio Valley today as a cold front pushes across the region, increasing the threat of localized flooding, particularly in southern Indiana.
According to the National Weather Service Ohio River Forecast Center, widespread showers and storms will continue through tonight, with rainfall totals exceeding one inch in parts of Kentucky, southern Ohio, and western West Virginia. Minor flooding is already impacting the lower White River in southwestern Indiana, with more rain potentially worsening conditions.
The 24-hour precipitation outlook shows a concentrated band of moderate to heavy rainfall from southern Illinois to western Pennsylvania. While most rivers in the basin should stay within their banks, areas along the lower White River remain at risk, especially near Vincennes and Petersburg. Commuters are urged to avoid water-covered roads, and residents in flood-prone zones should monitor local alerts closely.
Conditions are expected to dry out considerably by midweek, with no additional rainfall forecast through the weekend. However, the NWS warns that localized runoff could prolong minor flooding through Wednesday.
⚠️ Flood warnings remain in effect for parts of Indiana through Wednesday morning.
