Ohio Valley – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect early Friday across parts of Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky, while a Winter Storm Watch is in place for the same region from Saturday morning through Sunday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, up to one inch of additional snow is expected through 10 a.m. EST Friday, creating slippery road conditions during the morning commute. The advisory covers portions of east central and southeast Indiana, northern Kentucky, and south central and southwest Ohio.
Affected areas include Indianapolis-area eastern counties, the Cincinnati metro, Dayton, Middletown, Hamilton, Wilmington, Chillicothe, Portsmouth, and northern Kentucky communities such as Covington, Florence, Newport, Alexandria, Maysville, and Vanceburg.
Following the advisory, a Winter Storm Watch is in effect from Saturday morning through Sunday morning, with 3 to 5 inches of snow possible across the region. Forecasters say confidence is increasing in a more organized system that could bring widespread accumulating snow, potentially making travel very difficult at times.
The National Weather Service warns that hazardous conditions could impact both Friday evening travel and weekend plans, especially if heavier snow develops Saturday into early Sunday.
Motorists are urged to use caution, slow down, and allow extra travel time. Travelers should continue monitoring forecasts as details on the weekend system become clearer.
Road conditions can be checked at 511in.org in Indiana, ohgo.com in Ohio, and goky.ky.gov in Kentucky. Officials also recommend preparing a winter travel kit in case of delays or emergencies.
