Cincinnati, OH – The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a Frost Advisory for the tri-state region, including parts of southwest Ohio, southeast Indiana, and northern Kentucky, from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. Thursday, with a Freeze Watch set to follow Thursday night through Friday morning.
According to the NWS, overnight temperatures will fall to around 35 degrees across the region, leading to widespread frost formation. Lows could dip further to 31 degrees or colder by early Friday, prompting the later Freeze Watch.
The advisory includes counties such as Hamilton, Butler, Preble, Brown, Clermont (OH); Franklin, Fayette, Ripley, and Dearborn (IN); and Boone, Kenton, Campbell, Grant, and Mason (KY). Cities under the alert include Cincinnati, Middletown, Oxford, Richmond, Florence, Covington, and Maysville.
Forecasters warn that frost and freeze conditions may kill sensitive vegetation and damage outdoor plumbing if unprotected. Residents are advised to cover plants, drain sprinkler systems, and wrap exposed pipes before temperatures drop overnight.
While Thursday afternoon will see highs in the low 50s, Thursday night’s cold front could usher in the first widespread freeze of the season, officially ending the growing period across the tri-state area.
