Wilmington, OH – Severe storms capable of producing tornadoes are expected to impact the Indiana-Ohio-Kentucky border region late Thursday afternoon into the evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, showers and thunderstorms will develop as a warm front lifts north across the region. The primary threat window is between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m., when conditions may support damaging wind gusts, small hail and isolated tornadoes.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed much of southeast Indiana, southwest Ohio and northern Kentucky under a slight risk for severe weather. Cities including Cincinnati, Dayton, Wilmington and nearby Tri-State communities could see strong to severe storms during the evening commute.

Forecasters say storms will move west to east, and any tornado development would likely occur within the stronger cells embedded in the line of storms.

Residents are urged to review tornado safety plans, ensure weather alerts are enabled on mobile devices, and identify a safe shelter location ahead of time. Outdoor events and travel plans Thursday evening may be impacted.

Additional updates and potential watches or warnings are expected as the system approaches.
