Cincinnati, OH – Drivers and residents across southwest Ohio and southeast Indiana are urged to take shelter as a severe thunderstorm warning blankets Butler, Hamilton, Franklin, and Dearborn counties until 7:15 p.m. Sunday. Winds could reach up to 60 miles per hour, with pea-sized hail possible and a brief tornado cannot be ruled out.

According to the US National Weather Service Wilmington OH, the warning area covers Cincinnati, Norwood, Reading, Harrison, and New Baltimore in Ohio, plus Saint Leon and Cedar Grove in Indiana. The storm is moving quickly and may cause power outages, tree damage, and dangerous travel conditions along I-74, I-275, and local highways.

Over 614,000 people, 160 schools, and 12 hospitals are within the warning zone. Emergency managers urge everyone to avoid unnecessary travel, secure outdoor objects, and charge mobile devices in case of outages. If you’re outdoors or driving, seek sturdy shelter immediately. Local schools and hospitals are advised to activate severe weather protocols.
