Indianapolis, IN – More than $500,000 in funding is now available for Indiana cities, schools, and nonprofits looking to support community and urban forestry projects.

According to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Division of Forestry, $508,559 will be distributed through the annual Community & Urban Forestry (CUF) Grants program, which is funded in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service. Eligible applicants include municipalities, 501(c)3 nonprofits, places of worship, and higher education institutions.

The application portal opened Sept. 15 and will close Oct. 23 at 1 p.m. ET. Applications must be submitted through the State Budget Agency’s Euna Grants Portal. Instructions and eligibility information are available online at in.gov/sba/grants.

DNR officials noted that a 1:1 funding match is required. All funds will be distributed on a reimbursable basis, and recipients may apply for more than one grant. However, receiving funding for multiple applications is not guaranteed. Funding announcements will be made by Nov. 17.

The CUF program supports projects such as tree planting, urban canopy planning, and local forestry education. Current grant recipients are reminded that accomplishment reports are due June 30 and Dec. 30 each year.

Questions about the grants may be directed to the DNR Division of Forestry at 317-234-4386 or by email at JRoos@dnr.IN.gov.
