Indiana Motorcyclist Severely Injured in Hit-and-Run: Hobart Man Slapped with Multiple Charges

HOBART, Ind. — An Indiana motorcyclist, en route home to Michigan after a family visit in Colorado, was left severely injured following a hit-and-run crash on 10th Avenue. Pete Baum, 48, of Hobart, allegedly swerved from the westbound lane into oncoming traffic, colliding with the motorcyclist. 

Charges against Baum include two related to fleeing the scene and another two tied to intoxicated driving. 

The South Lake County crash team has taken over the active investigation of the incident that unfolded near 10th Ave. and Ash Street. Witnesses are urged to reach out to Lt. Nick Wardrip at [email protected].
