Fort Wayne, Ind. – Drivers across northeast Indiana, southern Michigan, and northwestern Ohio could face dangerous visibility drops early Thursday morning due to patchy dense fog. Areas like Angola, Coldwater, and Bryan may see visibility fall to a quarter-mile or less before 8:30 a.m. EDT.
According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, patchy fog has developed across Lagrange, Hillsdale, and Fulton Counties, with some pockets thick enough to cause abrupt changes in visibility over short distances. A Special Weather Statement is in effect for the region.
Motorists traveling along I-69, U.S. 20, and local highways should slow down, use low beams, and allow extra travel time. Visibility is expected to steadily improve after mid-morning.
This fog comes amid calm overnight conditions and high humidity levels, typical of July mornings in the region. While no dense fog advisory has been issued, conditions may still create hazardous travel in rural areas.
Another update from the NWS is expected if fog lingers past 8:30 a.m. or redevelops Friday morning.
