Fort Wayne, IN – A wind advisory remains in effect for northern Indiana, southwest Michigan, and northwest Ohio from 8 p.m. EST Wednesday to 9 a.m. EST Thursday, as strong winds are expected to impact the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, west to northwest winds of 20 to 25 mph are forecast, with gusts reaching 45 to 50 mph. The advisory covers multiple counties, including Elkhart, Allen, St. Joseph, and Whitley in Indiana; Cass, Branch, and Berrien in Michigan; and Williams, Defiance, and Van Wert in Ohio.

Residents should prepare for hazardous conditions as gusty winds may cause unsecured objects to be blown around. Tree limbs could be knocked down, potentially leading to isolated power outages. Motorists, particularly those driving high-profile vehicles, should exercise caution as strong winds may make travel challenging.

The strongest gusts are expected overnight into early Thursday morning before gradually diminishing. Officials advise securing outdoor furniture and decorations and staying updated on weather alerts.

For real-time updates and safety recommendations, visit the National Weather Service website or follow local emergency management agencies. Drivers should allow extra time for travel and remain vigilant on the roads.
