New Albany, IN – A reported possible suicide attempt in a Meijer parking lot led Jeffersonville Police to discover a murder victim in a New Albany home. On Tuesday evening, officers responded to the Meijer parking lot off Allison Lane in Jeffersonville after reports of a suicidal woman.
According to authorities, after locating and speaking with the 26-year-old Tirzah Catherine Linson of Clarksville, Indiana, officers determined a welfare check at a residence on East 11th Street in New Albany was necessary. New Albany Police conducted the welfare check and found 68-year-old Gary D. Reid dead on the floor of his home with an apparent head injury.
ISP detectives and Crime Scene Investigators processed the scene and conducted interviews. Subsequently, detectives arrested Linson for murder, transporting her from Norton Clark Hospital to Floyd County Jail without further incident.
The investigation is ongoing, with assistance from Jeffersonville Police, New Albany Police, and the Floyd County Coroner’s Office. An autopsy is scheduled for later this week. All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
