New Palestine, IN – A fatal accident occurred on US 52 near Creekside Drive in New Palestine on Thursday evening, claiming the life of 60-year-old Timothy Bossard of Greenfield.

The crash involved his Harley Davidson motorcycle and a Cadillac Escalade, which collided when the SUV exited El Toro Bravo restaurant and entered the roadway.

According to officials from the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, the Cadillac pulled directly into the path of the westbound motorcycle, resulting in a severe impact against the driver’s side of the vehicle. Bossard, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, was urgently transported to Methodist Hospital. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead shortly after midnight. The driver of the Cadillac, 77-year-old Robert Jennings of Greenfield, was not significantly injured and remained at the scene to cooperate with authorities.

The roadway was closed for nearly three hours while an investigation was underway. No charges have yet been filed in the case. Preliminary investigations indicate that drugs and alcohol were not contributing factors. Local law enforcement is continuing the investigation and has reiterated the importance of wearing helmets for all motorcyclists.
