Michigan City, IN – A Michigan City man was hospitalized early Thursday morning after allegedly being stabbed by his wife during an argument at a local hotel.

According to the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to Franciscan Health Michigan City around 4:48 a.m. after a 35-year-old man arrived with a stab wound to his upper torso. The victim told authorities that the altercation took place inside a room at the Dunes Inn on North Frontage Road, where his wife, 30-year-old Heather D. Kist, allegedly stabbed him.

Detectives launched an investigation, and the Fugitive Apprehension Street Team (FAST) was called in to track Kist. She was later located at a hotel in Knox, Indiana, and taken into custody. Prosecutors filed an arrest warrant for aggravated battery, an F3 felony.

Kist is currently held at La Porte County Jail on a $25,000 cash-only bond. Authorities confirm that charges are accusations, and Kist is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
