Remington, IN – A Remington man was arrested and booked this week on felony stalking and other criminal charges, following a series of bizarre incidents involving drones and dropped objects at a local trucking company.
According to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, Chase A. Bowman, 31, was taken into custody Saturday and charged with two counts of stalking (Level 5 Felony), criminal recklessness (Level 6 Felony), and criminal mischief (Class A Misdemeanor). The arrest followed an investigation into damage inflicted on company property using fishing line, nails, and glass jars filled with paint.
Deputies first responded to the company’s Remington facility on May 28 after a red GMC truck was damaged by bolts and metal rings allegedly dropped by a drone. Surveillance footage from May 26 captured some of the incidents, and approximately 75 nails were found scattered on the premises.
Bowman, a former employee who reportedly departed on poor terms and had once mentioned owning a drone capable of releasing objects, became a person of interest. FAA records confirmed a DJI Air 3S drone was registered to Bowman at an address 1.1 miles from the affected property.
Further incidents occurred between May 30 and June 1, with glass jars shattering across the company’s roof. A second employer also reported surveillance of Bowman removing bolts that matched those found at the scene.
On June 4, investigators executed a search warrant at Bowman’s residence, recovering drones, bolts, jars, and fishing line. Bowman was advised of the warrant and interviewed after being read his rights.
All charges are accusations. Bowman is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
