Indianapolis firefighters were allegedly threatened by a homeowner while responding to a house fire early Monday morning on Walker Avenue.
According to the Indianapolis Fire Department (IFD), crews arrived at 2926 Walker Ave at 6:55 a.m. to find heavy fire conditions. As firefighters worked to contain the blaze, a man inside the home allegedly became aggressive, threatening to “get his gun and shoot them all” if they continued breaking windows. He was later seen throwing rocks at the house and attempting to re-enter the burning structure, reportedly to retrieve a firearm. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officers arrested him at the scene.
A second man allegedly interfered with the Incident Commander and became verbally aggressive. IMPD removed him from the area, though he was not arrested.
Firefighters brought the fire under control within 20 minutes. No injuries were reported, and officials believe an electrical issue caused the fire.
