Indiana Man Allegedly Fires Shots in Road Rage on I-94, Arrested by Illinois State Police

Gary, IN – Illinois State Police have reportedly taken Gary, Indiana resident Andrew D. Santana into custody for his alleged involvement in a road rage shooting on I-94. The alleged incident, which authorities say occurred on March 24, 2024, involved Santana, age 24, allegedly discharging a firearm multiple times at another vehicle. This expressway shooting, which took place on the southbound Bishop Ford Expressway near 154th Street, did not result in any injuries, despite the victim’s vehicle being struck several times.

Following what was described as a thorough investigation by the ISP, the suspect’s vehicle was allegedly identified and located by the Gary Indiana Police Department, leading to Santana’s arrest. An arrest warrant was issued, and Santana was subsequently extradited to Illinois, where he allegedly faces a charge of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm.

As Santana awaits a detention hearing, the Illinois State Police are actively promoting their “Road Rage. Don’t Engage.” safety campaign and highlighting the incident as a stark reminder of the consequences of aggressive driving.
