Indiana and Kentucky – A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect early Friday across parts of southeast Indiana and northern Kentucky, with snow creating hazardous travel conditions during the morning commute.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, additional snowfall of up to two inches is expected through 10 a.m. EST. While amounts are relatively light, the timing of the snow is expected to make road conditions slick and difficult, particularly during peak travel hours.

In Indiana, the warning includes Switzerland County. In Kentucky, affected counties are Bracken, Carroll, Gallatin, Grant, Owen, Pendleton, and Robertson. Communities within the warning area include Vevay, Dry Ridge, Williamstown, Crittenden, Falmouth, Augusta, Warsaw, Mount Olivet, and Carrollton.

Forecasters warn that even minor snowfall can quickly lead to slippery roads, especially on bridges, overpasses, and untreated secondary routes. Travel conditions may deteriorate rapidly as snow continues during early-morning hours.

Officials advise motorists to slow down, increase following distance, and allow extra time for travel. Those who can delay trips until later in the morning may see improving conditions as road crews continue treatment efforts.

Drivers who must be on the road are encouraged to carry basic emergency supplies, including a flashlight, food, and water. In Indiana, the latest road conditions are available at 511in.org or by calling 1-800-261-7623. In Kentucky, road conditions can be checked at goky.ky.gov.
