Cincinnati, OH – A dense fog advisory is in effect across parts of southeast Indiana, northern Kentucky, and southwest Ohio, with visibility dropping below a quarter mile in many areas this morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, the advisory began around 7:12 a.m. EDT and will remain in place until 11 a.m. Wednesday. Cities impacted include Cincinnati, Florence, Portsmouth, Wilmington, and parts of Franklin, Dearborn, Boone, and Lewis counties, among others.
The thick fog is already creating hazardous travel conditions across major corridors, including Interstates 71, 75, and 275. Commuters are urged to reduce speed, use low-beam headlights, and allow extra travel time. School districts in some areas are reporting delayed openings due to reduced visibility.
While fog advisories are common in spring transitions, today’s widespread coverage and severity are noteworthy. Drivers should anticipate slow-moving traffic and exercise extreme caution, particularly in rural areas and valleys where fog tends to linger longer.
The fog is expected to lift gradually by late morning as temperatures rise and sunlight increases. Motorists and morning travelers are advised to monitor updates from local authorities and traffic apps for evolving road conditions.
Stay alert and drive safely through the morning hours.
