Louisville, KY – A strong cold front will sweep through Kentucky and southern Indiana late Saturday, bringing gusty winds, periods of heavy rain, and a few isolated strong storms, according to the National Weather Service in Louisville.

Forecasters say showers and thunderstorms will develop Saturday evening and continue into early Sunday. While the overall threat for severe weather remains low, a few strong storms could occur overnight, mainly across western Kentucky and southern Indiana.

Wind gusts are expected to reach 20–30 mph Saturday afternoon, increasing to 30–40 mph Sunday as cooler air moves in behind the front.

According to the NWS, rainfall totals between 0.75 and 1.75 inches are likely, with localized amounts over 2 inches possible, particularly north of Louisville. Cooler temperatures and lingering showers are expected throughout Sunday.

Residents are advised to secure outdoor items and prepare for potential travel delays, ponding on roads, and reduced visibility during heavy rainfall.
