Louisville, Kentucky – Residents along the Indiana-Kentucky border should brace for a blast of Arctic air starting Sunday, with wind chills plummeting into the teens and below-normal temperatures gripping the region through much of next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, a strong cold front will move through early Sunday, ushering in brisk northwest winds and sharply colder air. Minimum wind chills are forecast to range from 13°F to 20°F in cities like Jasper, Salem, Madison, and Brandenburg, making Sunday feel more like mid-January than late November. Louisville and Lexington may feel no warmer than 21° during the afternoon.

Highs on Sunday will struggle to break into the low 40s, with nighttime lows in the 20s across much of the region. That trend continues into Monday and Tuesday, with temperatures remaining 10 to 15 degrees below normal. Frankfort, Elizabethtown, and Campbellsville are expected to see lows in the upper teens to near 20° during the early week stretch.

Drivers should watch for slick spots during the morning commute, particularly on bridges and shaded roadways. Residents are urged to dress in layers, limit time outdoors, and check on vulnerable neighbors.

Cold weather advisories may be reissued as this prolonged chill continues through late next week.
