Louisville, Ky. – Scattered thunderstorms and dangerous heat will grip Kentucky through Wednesday, with temperatures soaring to near 97° and afternoon storms threatening southern Indiana and north central Kentucky.
According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, today’s highest rain chances are expected in southern Indiana and nearby parts of north central Kentucky, with isolated to scattered storms developing by late afternoon. Highs will range from 88 to 93 degrees.
Storm chances increase Monday and Tuesday as moisture shifts south, combining with soaring highs between 90–97°F to create steamy, unstable conditions across central and southern Kentucky. A brief reprieve is expected Wednesday as a cold front moves in, possibly triggering stronger storms before ushering in drier air.
Cities like Louisville, Elizabethtown, and Bowling Green should brace for possible localized flooding and gusty winds. Afternoon outdoor plans should be adjusted, and residents are urged to hydrate, limit sun exposure, and remain weather-aware.
Storm chances and extreme heat are expected to taper off slightly after midweek, but additional advisories may be issued if the front stalls or redevelops. Stay tuned to NWS updates as conditions evolve.
