Wheatfield, IN – An Indiana couple is facing charges after being accused of murdering their two children and burning their remains in a backyard firepit.
Samantha Sebella, 31, and Steven Valle, 25, have been charged with neglect causing death, abuse of a corpse, and failure to report a death.
According to court documents, Valle allegedly confessed to smothering their first child and drowning their second before burning both bodies. The confession led authorities to their former residence in Wheatfield, where bone fragments were uncovered.
The investigation began on September 20 after police were alerted by a couple who reported Valle’s confession. When authorities searched the property, cadaver dogs detected human remains. The bone fragments are undergoing further analysis.
Another child in the couple’s care was placed in protective custody. Authorities urge anyone with additional information to come forward as the investigation continues. The discovery has left the Wheatfield community in shock.
