Indianapolis, Indiana – Isolated severe storms could rattle central Indiana on Sunday, with damaging winds and localized flash flooding likely between 12 p.m. and 9 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis.

The primary concerns are wind gusts over 60 mph, heavy rainfall, and minor flooding in low-lying and urban areas. While tornadoes are not expected, isolated severe hail could also occur. The area under highest local risk includes Indianapolis, Terre Haute, Bloomington, and surrounding counties.

According to the National Weather Service, the severe weather threat peaks Sunday afternoon and may impact outdoor plans, road travel, and vulnerable infrastructure. Cities like Lafayette, Kokomo, Muncie, and Richmond should remain alert for rapidly changing conditions and potential downed trees or power lines.

Drivers should avoid flooded roads, especially near creeks and underpasses. Residents are urged to charge phones, check sump pumps, and secure loose outdoor items before storms develop.

Storm activity is expected to taper off by 9 p.m., but more alerts may be issued if conditions escalate.
