Pendleton, IN – Interstate 69 is currently shut down southbound at the 242-mile marker due to a crane fire and fuel leak. The closure is expected to last for an undetermined amount of time as crews work to extinguish the fire and contain the fuel spill.

According to the Indiana State Police, motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes. Traffic will be diverted at State Road 28 (245-mile marker) to State Road 3 and onto State Road 67. The fire and spill were first reported earlier today, prompting a swift response from emergency services.

Efforts to control the situation are ongoing, and it remains unclear when the southbound lanes of I-69 will reopen. Authorities emphasize the importance of staying clear of the affected area to ensure the safety of both the public and emergency personnel.
