Indiana Homicide Investigation Underway After Lafayette Man Found Shot in Gary

Gary, IN – A Lafayette man was found dead from apparent gunshot wounds in Gary on Saturday morning, prompting a homicide investigation involving multiple agencies.

According to the Lake County Coroner’s Office, officials were dispatched at 7:45 a.m. Saturday to the 400 block of East 21st Place. The victim, identified as 27-year-old Antwan Tyler Levell Williams, was pronounced dead at 8:12 a.m. by a coroner’s investigator. Williams was a resident of Lafayette, Indiana.

The preliminary cause of death has been listed as gunshot wounds, and the manner of death has been ruled a homicide. A forensic autopsy is scheduled for Monday, July 28, at the Lake County Forensic Center in Crown Point.

Agencies assisting in the investigation include the Gary Police Department and the Lake County Prosecutor’s Homicide Task Force. No suspects have been publicly named and no arrests have been announced as of Sunday.

Authorities have not released additional information regarding the circumstances surrounding the shooting or any possible motive.
