Paragon, IN – Authorities in Morgan County are investigating a fatal crash Friday evening along Highway 67 near Paragon after an unusual chain reaction involving a deer led to the death of a vehicle passenger.
According to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, a deer was hit by a northbound vehicle, causing the animal to be thrown into southbound traffic. The airborne deer struck another car, killing a passenger inside.
Deputies and first responders remain on scene as the crash investigation continues. Motorists are being asked to avoid the area while the roadway is cleared and emergency crews complete their work.
Officials have not yet released the name of the victim pending family notification. The sheriff’s office described the crash as a “very tragic accident” and offered condolences to all involved.
Drivers are reminded to use extra caution in rural areas during evening hours, as deer activity increases sharply in the fall.
