Indianapolis, IN – Halloween trick-or-treaters in central Indiana can expect rain and gusty winds today, but conditions should improve by evening. The National Weather Service (NWS) predicts rainfall across central Indiana through late afternoon, clearing in time for Halloween festivities, particularly west of I-69. Those heading out between Lafayette, Indianapolis, and Bloomington should prepare for wet conditions but can anticipate a safer, dry evening.

According to the NWS, rain will end by 5 or 6 p.m. for areas west of I-69, with locations further east seeing rain clear by 9 or 10 p.m. Wind gusts up to 30 mph are forecasted, particularly during the afternoon. Families should take extra caution with strong winds affecting visibility and pedestrian safety, especially on busy roads.

By evening, temperatures are expected to fall into the 50s, with rain chances decreasing to nearly zero by 9 p.m. in Lafayette, Indianapolis, and Bloomington. Although gusty winds of up to 24 mph may linger, conditions will be favorable for safe trick-or-treating. Motorists are urged to drive carefully, as slick roads and reduced visibility from earlier rain could impact Halloween traffic.

Looking ahead, Friday’s forecast shows sunny skies with temperatures reaching the upper 50s, creating ideal conditions for weekend events. Saturday will remain sunny with highs near 65 degrees, and mild weather continues into Sunday, though rain chances return late Sunday night. Thunderstorms may reappear Monday, signaling a potential pattern shift early next week.

With Halloween excitement tonight and clearer skies this weekend, residents are encouraged to check for updates and enjoy local events safely.
