Indianapolis, IN – A Freeze Warning has been issued for parts of central, south-central, and southeastern Indiana, with temperatures expected to dip as low as 27°F tonight. The warning, which is set to take effect from midnight tonight until 9 AM EDT Saturday, affects numerous counties including Marion, Hamilton, Tippecanoe, and Monroe, among others.
According to the National Weather Service, frost and freezing conditions may kill sensitive plants, damage unprotected outdoor plumbing, and pose a threat to agricultural crops. Residents are urged to take necessary precautions to protect tender plants and ensure outdoor plumbing is adequately insulated.
This freeze comes after a period of relatively mild spring weather, but the abrupt shift in temperatures is expected to impact gardening and farming operations across the state. It is advisable to cover plants or bring them indoors and check outdoor faucets for any potential freeze risks.
The cold snap is expected to last through Saturday morning, with temperatures gradually warming by the afternoon.
