Indianapolis, IN – Central Indiana residents can expect a warm and mostly dry weekend before showers return early next week, according to the US National Weather Service Indianapolis.

Strong high pressure is bringing partly cloudy skies and above-average warmth to the region today and Sunday. Forecasters say high temperatures will reach the mid to upper 80s, with overnight lows ranging from the upper 50s to lower 60s.

According to the National Weather Service, rain chances return Monday, with a 40% probability of showers or thunderstorms during the day and into Monday night. Highs Monday will cool slightly, ranging from 80 to 84 degrees, with lows near the mid-60s.

The warm spell comes as much of the Midwest enjoys unseasonably mild early October temperatures, though forecasters caution that cooler conditions may follow once the rain system passes early next week.

Drivers and outdoor event planners across Indianapolis, Carmel, and surrounding Central Indiana communities should keep an eye on Monday’s forecast for potential rain delays or slick road conditions.
