Indianapolis, IN – A flood watch remains in effect for much of Indiana as the state braces for heavy rainfall and possible flooding from Wednesday evening through Sunday morning. The National Weather Service issued the alert Monday evening, warning residents in central, eastern, and southern Indiana to prepare for potential flooding.

According to the National Weather Service, excessive rainfall could lead to flooding in rivers, creeks, and low-lying areas. The flood watch spans a wide area, including cities like Indianapolis, Bloomington, Terre Haute, and Muncie. The most significant impacts are expected from late Wednesday night through Saturday night, with heavy rainfall and flash flooding likely on Wednesday night into Thursday.

Excessive runoff from the rainfall could cause significant street flooding and river flooding, especially later in the week. Local officials urge residents, particularly those in flood-prone areas, to remain alert and prepared to take action if flooding occurs. Authorities recommend monitoring updates and staying informed through local weather alerts.
