Carroll County, IN – A motorcyclist was killed in a head-on collision involving a pickup truck Thursday evening on State Road 75 near County Road 485 South in Carroll County.
According to the Indiana State Police, the crash occurred shortly after 6:00 p.m. A preliminary investigation led by Trooper Schroder indicated the motorcyclist was traveling northbound on State Road 75 when, for unknown reasons, they allegedly crossed the center line and collided head-on with a southbound 2017 GMC Sierra.
Despite life-saving efforts by emergency responders, the rider was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Carroll County Coroner. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of family members and will be released at a later date.
The driver of the GMC Sierra was reportedly uninjured, authorities said.
Trooper Schroder received assistance at the scene from additional troopers with the Lafayette Post, the Indiana State Police Crash Reconstruction Team, Carroll County Sheriff’s Department, Carroll County EMS, and local fire departments.
Authorities have not determined what caused the motorcyclist to allegedly drift into oncoming traffic, and the investigation remains active, led by the Indiana State Police Peru Post Crash Reconstruction Team.
No further details were immediately available. Indiana State Police have encouraged witnesses or anyone with relevant information to contact their Peru Post.
