Plainfield, IN — The speed limit on U.S. Highway 40 in Plainfield has been reduced to 45 miles per hour as of Monday, aiming to improve road safety in the area. The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announced that the speed limit adjustment takes effect immediately, covering a section just east of Ventura Boulevard to just past Vandalia Boulevard.
According to INDOT, this change reduces the previous 55 mph speed limit by 10 mph in response to increased traffic volume and safety considerations along this stretch of U.S. 40. The decision was made following an analysis of traffic patterns and accident rates, which indicated a need for enhanced safety measures.
