Lowell, IN — An 18-year-old from Illinois was killed early Monday morning in a single-vehicle rollover crash in unincorporated Lowell, Indiana.

According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to a crash near 231st Avenue and Colfax Street around 3 a.m. The teen, reportedly driving westbound in a pickup truck, veered off the road, struck a culvert, and was ejected after the truck went airborne, landed, and overturned.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Department Reconstruction Team is investigating the crash. The identity of the driver is being withheld pending family notification.

Officials confirmed the vehicle was the only one involved. No additional injuries were reported. It remains unclear why the truck left the roadway.
