Fulton County, IN – A fatal crash in northern Indiana on Sunday claimed the life of a Gary woman and left two others seriously injured, drawing a multi-agency response to State Road 25.

According to the Indiana State Police-Peru District, the collision occurred shortly after 2:30 p.m. near County Road 500 South. Investigators say a northbound 2021 KIA Sport, driven by Nicole L. Davis, 43, of Gary, traveled into the path of a southbound 2014 Ford F-150, resulting in a devastating impact. The KIA was carrying Steven V. Davis, 41, of Gary, and a juvenile passenger. The Ford was operated by Jackson C. Rentschler, 20, of Lucerne.

Nicole Davis was pronounced dead at the scene by the Fulton County Coroner’s Office, authorities said. Steven Davis and the juvenile were taken to area hospitals for treatment of serious injuries. Jackson Rentschler was also transported for minor injuries.

Police allege that, at this stage of the investigation, neither alcohol nor narcotics appear to be factors in the crash. The cause for the KIA’s loss of control remains undetermined, and investigators note the incident is still under review. Family members of the deceased have been notified, police said.

The response included troopers from the Indiana State Police Peru Post, Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, Fulton Police Department, Liberty Township Volunteer Fire Department, Parkview EMS, the Fulton County Coroner’s Office, and Wilson’s Towing.

Anyone with additional information regarding the crash is urged to contact the Indiana State Police.
