According to PSP Troop C, the incident occurred on September 2, 2025, around 1:40 p.m. at the Dairy Queen located at 403 North 4th Street. Investigators say the victim met a man in a blue Ford Fusion and handed over $9,800 in cash, believing it was payment for legal fees.

Police said the suspect drove away minutes later, heading south on North 4th Street. The vehicle reportedly has a sticker on the right rear door glass depicting what looks like an alien or skeleton. The suspect was described as a white male, about 5 feet 7 inches tall, heavyset, with dirty blond hair.
